10 Horror Movies You May want to See!

Here is a list of 10 horror films you may want to see this year. While I have personally not seen any of them, I can say that no matter how cheesy some of them look, I am probably going to check them out. One of these horror movies even has Corey Feldman starring in it. Another one has a bunch of inbred people killing people, that always seems to be a hit.

Still best horror flick I have seen in 2012 is VHS, if you have some better ones, send them over!

The Revenant | 2012

Inbred | 2012

Smiley | In select theaters now

Six Degrees of Hell | 2012

The Hole | Available on DVD

The Collapsed | 2012

Antiviral | 2012

Greystone Park | Available on DVD

Citadel | 2012

Thale | 2012

If you have seen any of these, let me know what you thought!

I’ve seen most of them. A few of them haven’t been released yet.

Revenant was pretty sweet. A very effective dark comedy and an interesting take on the zombie genre.

Inbred was messed up for the sake of being messed up. There really is no story line. The first half of the movie kinda drags along but it was for the sake of character development, when in retrospect wasn’t integral to a movie like Inbred. In spite of this I liked it. The special effects were superb. They blended practical and digital effects seamlessly. It has one of the coolest decapitation scenes I have ever seen and some rather interesting kills. Definitely worth the watch.

Smiley was stupid. I strongly disliked the movie. It’s “Twist” ending was a complete and utter fail. The acting was horrendous. It was a waste of my time.

I haven’t had the chance to see 6 Degrees Of Hell. I am a bit weary of it. I have seen b movies like it before. It seems to have a lot going on, possibly too much. It looks interesting enough that I’ll give it a watch, but I’m not expecting more than a mild 90 minute long distraction.

The Hole was actually completed in 2009. I guess it’s finally getting a DVD release? I saw it over a year and a half ago. I honestly don’t know why it’s even rated PG-13. It’s a glorified kids movie. It’s not bad. It was supposed to be a 3D movie, even when I saw it the effects were outdated. It missed the train on the new 3D technology that emerged late 09 with movies like Avatar. I wouldn’t waste my time on my own, but it would be a good one to watch with kids (6-12).

The Collapsed is one I have been waiting to see for a while now. It seems like a solid thriller. Anytime a thriller of this type is centered around a family, there is a built in tension that I love. Also, the trailer doesn’t give away everything, which further peaks my interest.

Antiviral looks twisted. I would expect nothing less from the son of David Cronenberg. This trailer actually reminds me a lot of his father’s films from the 80’s, especially Videodrome. I am really excited for this one.

Greystone Park, I’ll be interested to see if it actually lives up to it’s own hype. Although I fear it may just be another link in the chain of these types of movies that have been released lately. Since the first Paranormal Activity there have been over a dozen of these “Found Footage” fear fests that most times miss the mark. I’ll be giving this one a watch be cause I have been pleasantly surprised with a few of these formulaic films. Namely Grave Encounters and it’s recently released sequel, but most of these types of films are a let down.

For me, Citadel is one of the most highly anticipated movies for me. I have been reading everything I can find about this film and have been following it for a few months now. All signs point to it being a phenom. The tense tone and overwhelming paranoia of the main character will be a driving force for sure. Dealing with the loss of a loved one, the paternal instinct to protect your child, and the agoraphobia combined with the situation this poor man finds himself in creates a breath of fresh air in a stale genre.

Truth be told, I don’t know what the hell is going on in Thale… but I want to. I will be watching that one soon for sure.
