If you’ve been keeping your finger on the pulse of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you’re doing things right. If you’ve been paying attention to my Guardians of the Galaxy posts, at the very least, your head should be sufficiently above water. Marvel is at it again and stepping up the hype for the newest superhero chapter, in a very connected universe. I’ll get to that in a second. But first check out the new extended trailer.
Guardians Of The Galaxy – Exclusive Extended Trailer
So here’s the deal… if you don’t know much about Guardians of the Galaxy, this is as good a feel for them that you can get. The tone is laced with humor throughout but jam packed with action and intricate story lines. This is the franchise that takes you that little extra step past the mystical realms of Thor and expands the universe into more of the sci-fi type worlds, rather than the legendary worlds where magic is prevalent but actually an established science. Guardians of the Galaxy kind of binds it all together, taking the familiar Earth-based world and the Asgardian god-like-inhabited world and tying them together with basically the entire rest of the space traveling, larger existence, bigger picture, planet-hopping, science fiction worlds. Get what I mean?
If you’re still falling behind, it’s probably because you need to check out these…
If you’ve been paying attention to The Avengers movies, ie – Iron Man 1, 2, and 3, Thor 1 and 2, Captain America 1 and 2, The Incredible Hulk (lets just ignore the existence of the 2003 monstrosity known as Hulk), and having Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the newly added Falcon, sprinkled in there throughout – you’ll notice they start to zero in on the idea that Earth is out-gunned and for lack of a better word, out-technologied once the existence of Thor’s world is found out to be reality and not fable. The Tesseract spans through decades of Earth’s existence, posing a threat to all of humanity. The next Thor-based element is the Aether, which is capable of very bad things as well. These mystical artifacts are known as infinity stones and all lead up to the idea of one major plot line:
Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.
Guardians of the Galaxy will no doubt have at least one infinity stone in hot pursuit by villains, The Collector being one of note for sure. The anti-heroes that they are, will quickly turn into hero-heroes and need to stop the Galaxy from being destroyed. One has to assume their criminal background helps them become privy to a much deeper and sinister plot via the jobs they were hired to do. This Marvel universe is about to blow wide open and become larger than ever.
What do you think the focus of this movie will be? Which infinity stone will they be protecting? Who will all the villains be? Is Rocket really a raccoon? Hit up the comments and I’ll see you down there.
